Choices Ministry
Choices
is a Christian ministry which proclaims a message of sexual wholeness to the
community. The ministry seeks to assist those who desire to overcome homosexuality
in their lives. Our aim is to restore their sexual identities to what God
intends. We empower the individual to take responsibility in maintaining moral
and relational wholeness.
One of
our goals is to establish practical and effective help for those who desire
it. This includes help for friends and families of clients. In addition to
our own pastoral counselling and support, Choices collaborates with
other community professionals and therapists through consultation and referrals
to best meet the needs of our clients. Additionally, Choices is also
affiliated with EXODUS INTERNATIONAL,
a coalition of Christian agencies founded in 1976, providing ministry to people
who are overcoming homosexuality.
Choices
maintains and distributes extensive resources such as articles,
books,
audio-tapes and video cassettes to
impart truth and motivate clients who want change.
When clients
or their loved ones need counselling, a team of Christian lay-counsellors
who are experienced in handling issues concerning sexual orientation and its
related disorders, is readily available.
One of
the key elements in recovery for most clients lies in Choices’
established
support group programme, which provides
an excellent setting for self-discovery and growth. It is a nurturing environment
to make meaning of one’s experiences and struggles, and a safe place to develop
wholesome friendships.
Relearning
ways of living and relating is not easy. Understandably, overcoming homosexuality
is a challenge many prefer not to face. To succeed, two critical ingredients
need to be present: a tenacious, persevering motivation and the support of
others who believe in your effort. Choices offers part of this supportive
network for those who want to discover life beyond the control of homosexuality.
